This is the official OpenGEU 8.04 Luna Crescente Alpha release. It’s a Live CD, so you can burn it and run it Live on any machine without hurting your system at all! In this release there has been a big number of changes on the software side, a lot of new tools and E17 modules are included and many of these softwares have been directly developed by our team.
Since OpenGEU Luna Nuova, a lot has changed and now there’s no extra panel in OpenGEU, no fbpanel and no gnome panel anymore. The user will be able to find any gnome tool needed in the very convenient OpenGEU menu entry of the E17 menu. The system tray can be found on the lower right corner of the screen thanks to trayer and should you miss fbpanel for any reason, you’ll just have to download the OpenGEU customized version of the panel from Synaptic!
The alpha version is already fully working and if you wish you can install it and use it on your machine, the system works like a charm and in the future releases we’ll just focus on bug-hunting and in creating new wonderful themes. So, if you find any bug, please report it to our development ML or to our forums. Enjoy the new OpenGEU

Ehm… what do you mean Agust? What’s the problem?
No no problem Luca.
I write this post in Spanish.
Solo digo que hecho en falta la opcion “limpiar documentos recientes” desde el menu OpenGEU.
Un saludo:
Agust
How do I install the 8.04 Alpha to the HD?
I can’t find the option in the menu.
Thanks.
Never mind the previous post.
I saw the install option icon in the *task bar* right after I posted the message. I was looking for the option thru the *Start* button.
Well , a question , live cd OpenGEU 8.04 luna Crescente Alpha install OpenGEU-desktop-3.036 instead of OpenGEU-lc4gutsy-desktop is correct?
Greetings:
Agust
Yeah, opengeu-lc4gutsy is only for those using Gutsy Gibbon. OpenGEU LC Alpha is based on hardy already

Hi there Luca,
I may help you with hosting issues. Could you contact me on my email ?
Live CD work very fine, but I’ve a question: How can I change system tray to lower left corner? Sorry for my bad english.
Thank you!
Hi pochepoke (I love Final Fantasy Unlimited
), it is not yet configurable with a graphical tool, you have to edit the file you find in:
/usr/share/applications/trayer.desktop
For an extensive list of the options accepted by trayer, you can very easily tpe in a terminal:
trayer –help
Hope this helps
Greetings Darkmaster,
I’m wanting to try your nice looking distro…but….
I’m wondering if there is a problem with the 8.04 OpenGEU files in the repos. I’m running KDE3.5.9 Hardy on amd64-bit. I’ve tried to use the packages by Adept–but the OpenGEU-Desktop won’t install. It warns that installing will “Break”-only on that package.
When I sudo apt-get install OpenGEU-desktop I get:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
opengeu-desktop: Depends: opengeu-luna-nuova-themes but it is not going to be installed
Depends: emodule-extramenu-opengeu-data but it is not going to be installed
Depends: emodule-bling but it is not installable
Depends: geutheme but it is not going to be installed
Depends: emodule-calendar but it is not installable
That’s because we’re still working to support 64bit machines.
My first impression from the alpha-liv CD: sleek, smart and shiny. So I install.
That still worked as a charm. And then the bugs started at A with audio-cd and ended so far at U like update. I will try to report them systematically in the forum.
Also a lot of inconsistencies or gaps in the documentation/ installation instructions (e.g. sources and keys) between the versions.
But as I said the idea is appealing so I rather help with the bug-hunt. then whine and run.
So long and thanks for all the eyecandy.
URig
thanks to you for the support.
This is a great distro. Can’t wait to see what you do with Intrepid when it comes out.
